After planning this trip for so long, it’s quite a strange feeling to, y’know, actually be here! I’ve zipping about and doing everything I can to settle into the Melbourne way of life. So far so good.
I’ve been reading some pretty awesome books. A Twitter Year is a fascinating insight into the power of social media – buy here. The Great Gatsby is an incredible story, it’s the first Fitzgerald novel I’ve read and I was in no way dissappointed. You can purchase it here – definitely worth reading it now as the film comes out next year, Leo himself is playing Jay Gatsby.
There are macaroons and macarons everywhere over here, I love it! There’s a special little place on Hardware Lane that I’m going to devote an entire blog post to.
The War Memorial ahead there. This park sits right next to my new road, when I’ve acclimatized to weather maybe I’ll go for a run in the mornings (i.e. my running career is over, it’s too hot).
I was pleasantly surprised by the art in this gallery. I will revisit it and take some pictures next week.
All in all, I’m settling in well. I’m taking each day as it comes and am slowly realising that Melbourne is probably going to be a difficult place to leave.
